Tools for growing
My name is Matias Tonnelier, I am 40 years old, I am a doctor, born in Buenos Aires, I work since I was 18 years old, I had the fortune of being able to study (do primary and secondary) and study medicine in the UBA.
I currently work in an Intensive Adult Therapy, I do 6 monthly guards (Until recently between 8 and 10). I have read multiple blogs that have given me a lot of ideas that lead to practice and generated excellent results. I start writing about some things that I think can be useful to others and I also learn what they want to share.
I'm passionate about everything that has to do with learning strategies.
I have been studying for more than 10 years as I can earn more time in my life, be more effective and I can reach my goals. I share a little of what I discovered.
First and fundamental is to take the time, sit and pose what we want in our lives. It's an intense job but it's worth it.
One of the things that changed my life was to start waking up early and I am talking about 5 AM every day. I get a book called Miracle Mornings by Hal Elrod https://www.miraclemorning.com/. It was the beginning of a new stage in my life. I managed to wake up and keep it for more than 4 years. Not to mention that many get up at 4 am. I'm writing this blog 5 15 AM.
There is a concept called Collaborative Intelligence which is the intelligence that is reached with the collaboration of a group, the results are not linear, but exponential. A phrase, an idea that gives you another can radically change your life. We all see different things. Of course we have to align ourselves with optimistic people, with values, that we are on the same wavelength.
Another tool that I use every day to study and do things that I often want to postpone is the Pomodoro Technique (Pomodoro for the tomato-shaped timer). It is a time management technique (Time Boxing) that created the Italian Francisco Cirillo, is to choose the task we want to do and focus on the process and not the final result by dedicating 25-minute spaces with breaks in the middle of 5 minutes and after 4 pomodoros or 4 blocks of 25 minutes we have a break of 15 to 30 minutes. The pomodoros can not be interrupted, it is a protected time. Once the timer sounds we mark with an X the pomodoro realized. If by some question they interrupt us, we must start a new pomodoro and the previous one is not written down.

I share some applications that I use to organize myself during the week:
https://kanbanflow.com/
https://keep.google.com/
A platform that gives excellent free online courses is called "Coursera" is a platform developed by Stanford University. The first course I did was called "Learning how to learn", I loved it, very practical, it offers you concrete tools for learning what you want.
https://es.coursera.org/learn/learning-a-learning
I did a course in 2006 called "Photoreading" (read with all the mind), it is an accelerated learning system where different strategies are used to achieve to process all kinds of texts (with the conscious and subconscious mind) for different objectives, as much for the school, faculty as for the work. It's excellent. I did it in Buenos Aires, it was a weekend. It was dictated at the time by Licenciado Beatriz Ces (an exceptional person in all senses). http://www.octaviacultura.com/gacetilla_Instituto_Artes_de_la_Mente.html
Another thing that gave me excellent results to be more productive, live better, have a better mood, rest better is doing aerobic physical activity. What do I mean? All that activity that is moving in space: walking, jogging, running (that which increases the heart rate a bit). I read that physical activity is a controlled stress. The body is required but positively (eustress). Always before starting with physical activity it is advisable to be evaluated by a doctor.
If one reads a bit like life was thousands of years ago, man hunted and walked for hours and hours per day, according to some appointments could walk between 20 and 30 km. Imagine that our biology is adapted for that and we did not even walk more than 3 km per day.
A tool that serves to measure our steps and what we walk by day are the "podometers" that there are of all shapes and colors. Also applications on the cell phone. Some guides recommend walking as a piggy 10000 steps per day. The idea is to generate the "habit" a little every day. A challenge
Another fundamental issue that we do not receive training in the School, or in the Faculty or in postgraduate studies is the "Science of dealing with other people" so important for daily life both at home and at work. The best book I read and eminently practice is called "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie. I remember reading it for the first time when I worked as a marketing manager in a veterinary products company. It caused my sales to triple in three months. Better my relationships both at home and at work. It is a book that we can not stop reading. They are simple ideas but all practices and with obvious results. Highly recommended
By far I learned that one of my best teachers is "The Time". He is the one who teaches you the most. One manages in this life following what he feels or thinks is better, then comes the time and confirms if we were well or the way was on the other hand.
In relation to this last I share the title of a book that I loved about our failures that according to NLP do not exist, there are only results. The only failure is not to keep trying. The book is called "Failures and Failures" by Demian Sterman. The great geniuses we know today could overcome their failures to achieve their genius. That is, failure is part of the process.
Another thing that they recommend is very good, is having a Mentor. Of course it is copado. This helps us move faster towards what we want. It has to be a healthy relationship. It's like with a teacher, without deification and with respect.
I want to analyze now the "Specialist" concet. After analyzing it for a while, I come to the conclusion that a specialist in something is not a gifted being, genius, that everything is easy for him. But rather someone who has devoted a lot of time to something and overcome multiple failures and continued paddling. That's why I no longer admire any specialist because if I wanted to be a specialist in something I can achieve it knowing that I have to dedicate around 10,000 hours according to a review of Harvard Business Review "The Making of an Expert" by Anders Ericsson.
Many times it is easier to say, it is difficult, than to dedicate many hours. When someone tells me that something is difficult the first thing I ask is how many hours do I dedicate?
